Joel is a dad, poet, screenwriter, and Pushcart Prize-nominated fiction writer, based out of upstate New York. He earned his English/Creative Writing MA from Binghamton University and has fiction and poetry in a bunch of literary magazines.
 
Joel has been a second-rounder in Austin Film Festival's Script Competition and a quarter-finalist in script competitions from NBC's Writers on the Verge, Stage 32, and three times with ScreenCraft.
